They are talented, but don't have the power to carry the show, which is why I think some of the other characters became more compelling. At least, that's what I thought when I saw it.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15341231489185317489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9054015418191023896.post-35558605829419508812009-11-16T09:54:05.425-05:002009-11-16T09:54:05.425-05:00Wow, maybe I'm just a cold fish but I didn'...Wow, maybe I'm just a cold fish but I didn't fall in love with Ragtime to the extent that everyone else did. I admired it more than I felt truly touched.

I mean, I love the music and I love the sweeping look at American history but for some reason, the stories of these three families didn't get to me as deeply as I thought they would. Still, I did see a very early preview.

Part of it may be that I simply knew the story too well, so there was no surprise. I also thought the way the central act of racism is depicted was pretty lame.

I also felt that the story of Sarah and Coalhouse kind of got shunted to the side, like we didn't get to know them as well as we did Mother and Tateh. But maybe that's just my imagination.

Still, lots to love in Ragtime, including the glorious prologue.Estherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16076517542540421210noreply@blogger.com
