The Aficionado at 500: History Repeats Itself

Still experiencing the high from last night's performance of Hair. Here is the new Broadway cast appearing on the "Late Show with David Letterman". Coincidentally, the original cast performed the same numbers on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in the very same theatre over forty years ago, inundating Ed with flowers and dancing through the audience.

You know I'm reaching musical theatre zen when I want to repeat an experience as often as possible.

After a year and a half, I can hardly believe that I've reached my 500th post. Hope you all stick around for the 1000th!

Congrats on the 500th post!

And I know what you mean about Hair. The funny is, I always hated the show. You know a production is good when it makes you not only tolerate something you didn't like, but it actually makes you enjoy it. Like if all of a sudden I liked meat loaf. I mean, I hate meat loaf. So if someone could make me actually enjoy meat loaf . . . well, that would be one hell of a chef.

TAAL, I agree completely with Ken. I never liked Hair but came out of the current revival feeling downright invigorated.

Thanks, guys!

I was never really big on "Hair" myself. I enjoyed the cast album because I've enjoyed the folk/rock sound of that era for many years, but the show never really appealed to me. In fact this was my first time seeing it onstage. And this one just was utterly life affirming.
